A Vietnamese Girl harrasing me

Hi Team, I need your help and suggestion. I am an expat from India and came here in HCMC for work. I met a local girl and she started me meeting me frequently and we shared a relationship. In return, she asked me money and expensive gifts which I gave and have a bank transactions for all swipes and debits. Now I am not willing to meet her she is threatening me to file a case by involving a lawyer. My questions are: 1. Can I be sued for not meeting someone forcefully and out of my wish. 2. Can i sue the same person on basis of her calls and messages. 3. She has taken my laptop and not returning now. Can i take help of police to get same. Regards, Rajeev

To your question, we advice as follows:

Firstly, this girl can’t sue you because you don’t have violation of Vietnamese Law.

Secondly, if her calls and messages contain content threatening dignity, you can report to the police. They will investigate and resolve. If not, you can’t sue her.

Lastly, you can contact with her again to take your laptop back. If she doesn’t make, you should report to the police. Under Article 140.- Abusing trust in order to appropriate property - Criminal Law 1999

1. Those who commit one of the following acts of appropriating other person’s property valued between one million dong and fifty million dong, or under one million dong but causing serious consequences, or who have been administratively sanctioned for act of appropriation or sentenced for the property appropriation, not yet entitled to criminal record remission but repeat their violations, shall be subject to non-custodial reform for up to three years or a prison term of between three months and three years:

a) Loaning, borrowing and/or renting property of other persons or receiving property of other persons through contractual forms then using fraudulent tricks or fleeing in order to appropriate such property;
